HELENA — Helena High blew out Billings Senior, while Billings Skyview needed overtime to fend off Helena Capital in Class AA boys basketball action on Saturday afternoon.
Helena High built an early lead on Senior, going up 27-19 at halftime. The Bengals kept their foot on the gas in the second half, extending their lead and comfortably beating the Broncs, 56-36.
Skyview, however, had to scratch and claw to hold off Capital. The Falcons built a nine-point halftime lead, but Capital’s Peyton Koch beat the third quarter buzzer to turn the momentum in the Bruins favor, as they trailed 36-29 entering the final period.
Late in the fourth quarter, Trevor Swanson buried a pair of triples to bring Capital within two with just under three minutes to play. Both teams struggled to score down the stretch resulting in overtime.
Tied at 46 entering the extra period, Skyview’s offense took off. The Falcons outscored Capital 15-7 in overtime to outlast the Bruins, 61-53.
