BUTTE – The Butte High boys basketball team’s first home game of the year was Tuesday, and what better place to have it than the Butte Civic Center. The venue gave both Butte and visiting Missoula Big Sky a taste of the Class AA state tournament venue.

Butte and Big Sky stayed even offensively in the first half. Butte’s Kash Kelly was doing a little bit of everything for the Bulldogs. His transition game was great, finding Tommy Mellot and Jake Olson for easy buckets. He also contributed with a big 3-pointer at the end of the first quarter to give Butte a four-point lead.

Big Sky’s Daniel Morrin and Camdyn LaRance kept it close for the Eagles. On the defensive end, however, Butte forced turnovers all game long, killing any Big Sky momentum it built.

Butte’s Danny McCloskey went on a 12-0 run himself at one point just to add to Butte’s dominance of the second half.

The Bulldogs went on to win, 62-50.
