HELENA– The Helena Capital boys basketball team is getting ready to start the regular season by hosting their annual intersquad scrimmage. Following the scrimmage, the Bruins head coach Guy Almquist said that he like what he saw.
“I liked the pace. I thought we were pushing the ball up, a little bit more up-tempo this year. We got a lot of kids who can shoot the ball. I thought we were, did a good job of going down hill in the paint, attacking the rim. And where there was help, kicking out to open shooters,” said Almquist. “So I liked the pace offensively. Defensively, you know, when you’re scoring a lot in a scrimmage you’re thinking ‘how good a defense are we playing?’ We got to do a little bit better job in closeouts, but over all I thought the kids played pretty lose and played together, which was nice to see.”
The Bruins will open their season against the Bozeman Hawks on Dec. 8 at 4:00 p.m.
