Billings Central boys, Bozeman girls earn Billings Invite wins

BILLINGS -- Monday's boys golf tournament at the Billings Invite closed as a two-horse race between two longtime rivals. The difference: a single stroke.

Billings Central edged defending Class A state champion Laurel at Lake Hills Golf Course 312-313. Laurel's Carson Hackmann went low with a 2-under-par 70 for medalist honors. Bozeman Gallatin's Ramey Lloyd was two strokes back with an even-par 72.

Billings' three Class AA schools rounded out the boys top five with Skyview (327) in third, West (329) in fourth and Senior (331) in fifth. Including JV squads, 15 boys teams competed.

Bozeman took Monday's girls trophy closing with a round of 305. Laurel finished four strokes back to place second, followed by West (314), Gallatin (347) and Skyview (352). Eight teams competed across town at Peter Yegen Golf Course.

Billings Senior's Kenzie Walsh took medalist honors with a 2-under-par 69. Her round included four birdies and two bogeys. Bozeman's Sami Yates placed second with an even-par 71.
