HAMILTON – Saturday night the Hamilton gym was packed to the rafters in anticipation of two great games.

In the girls game, it was Columbia Falls taking on Browning in the Western A divisional championship. In the first half, Columbia Falls held a steady lead, dominating the offensive and defensive boards. Columbia Falls took a comfortable lead into the half, 30-22.

Browning made a late comeback down the stretch, though, to pull within five points. In the end, Columbia Falls grabbed some key rebounds and went on to win 59-52.

In the boys game, it was a lower-scoring affair than expected. Both teams hit back-to-back 3-pointers before slowing down big time. At the half, Butte Central took a 24-18 lead over Hamilton to the locker room. In the third period, Hamilton had some bad breaks as multiple 3-pointers rattled out. Butte Central, on the other hand, was hitting its shots. In the end, the Maroons took down the host Hamilton Broncs to win 46-37.
