RONAN – On Saturday night the Western B divisional championship basketball games were held for the boys and girls.
In the girls game, it was a classic rivalry matchup as Missoula Loyola took on Florence. In the first quarter, it looked like it would be close throughout as both teams were hitting their shots. At the end of the first half, Florence took a 26-19 lead.
In the second half, both teams had poor scoring quarters, Loyola with eight in the third and Florence with five in the fourth. In the end, Loyola couldn’t make up enough points and Florence won it 43-38.
In the boys game, it was another rivalry as two of the best in Class B squared off, Loyola and Bigfork.
In the first quarter, both teams came out firing with Loyola scoring 16 and Bigfork scoring 15. In the second half, Bigfork stepped up the defense and held the Rams to just three points in the third period and 16 total in the half. In the end, Bigfork came out on top 53-43.
