FRENCHTOWN – On Saturday evening both the girls and boys from Darby and Seeley-Swan faced off for the 13C District titles.
In the girls game, it was lopsided early. Darby had open shots but failed to hit, and Seeley took a 15-4 lead into the second quarter.
In the second, Darby found a rhythm and started knocking down some shots, but so did Seeley. The Blackhawks took a 24-15 lead into the half.
In the second half, Seeley slowed down. The Blackhawks only scored six in the third quarter, allowing the Tigers to pull within four entering the fourth quarter, 30-26. In the fourth, Seeley pulled away and took the 13C title, 42-34.
In the boys game, it started out the same with Darby going on a solid run. However, the boys game did not maintain to the second half drama of the girls game.
In the end, the Darby Tigers took the 13C title with ease, winning 65-38.
The Seeley-Swan girls, Darby girls and Darby boys will all be at the Western C divisional tournaments in Butte Feb. 21-23. Alberton-Superior and Seeley-Swan will play in a challenge game Monday night at 6 p.m. to determine the final boys spot out of the 13C.
