FLORENCE – On Friday night, both the girls and boys Deer Lodge basketball teams traveled to Florence to take on the Falcons.

It was the boys game first, and in the first quarter, the Deer Lodge boys came out hot hitting from 3. However, the Falcons defense kept them in the game, finishing the quarter down just one, 15-16.

In the second half, Deer Lodge picked up the pace on both sides of the ball. In the end, the Deer Lodge Wardens take it, 58-42.

In the girl’s matchup, it was a similar game. Right off the tip, Florence point guard Danielle Zahn found her teammate for an easy layup, setting the tone for the rest of the quarter. The Wardens hung in with good 3-point shooting, but once the Falcons started feeling it from both inside and out they were hard to stop.

Deer Lodge kept it close heading into the fourth, but Florence ended up on top, 59-43.
