Kalispell Flathead girls hold off Missoula Big Sky, 47-44

MISSOULA – The Kalispell Flathead girls basketball team jumped out to a great start and then hung on down the stretch to win their Western AA opener at Missoula Big Sky, 47-44, on Thursday.

Flathead jumped out to an 11-1 lead before Big Sky made a field goal. The lead remained 23-14 at halftime. Big Sky chipped away to get back in the game in the second half, but the Bravettes finished off the win.

Flathead will now take on crosstown rival Kalispell Glacier on Friday night. Big Sky doesn’t play again until next Thursday, Jan. 17 versus crosstown rival Missoula Sentinel.
