MISSOULA – The St. Ignatius boys had jumped out to its best start in years with a 5-0 record. But it took on its toughest test to date on Friday night. And Missoula Loyola sent the Bulldogs home with their first loss, 85-57.

The up-tempo game provided plenty of highlights from the start, including an early slam dunk by Loyola’s Cooper Waters. But for every athletic finish from the Rams, the Bulldogs hung around with an answer. Loyola led 17-13 after the first quarter and 39-31 at halftime.

The Rams kept scoring at a high pace in the second half, eventually pulling away from the Bulldogs for the 28-point victory.

Loyola takes the court again next Friday at Anaconda. St. Ignatius will host Ronan on Tuesday.
