MISSOULA – Missoula Hellgate and Billings West met for a Class AA basketball showdown on Friday night.
Boys Game – Hellgate was coming off a closer-than-expected win over Billings West on Friday night and looking to stay hot against Billings Senior. In the opening minutes, the Knights came out shooting but were not hitting from deep, going 0-6 from beyond the arc. Hellgate started working the ball inside with success, but Senior kept it close with lights-out shooting from Junior Bergen. Hellgate got going in the second half and took off from there winning it 78-43. Rollie Worster ended with a game-high 22 points.
Girls Game – Hellgate and Senior kept it close the entire game, but in the fourth Hellgate grew the lead to eight before shooting from Ellie Ostermiller tied it up at 40-all. In the final minutes, point guard Emma Blakely led Hellgate’s offense to a 62-52 victory.
