MISSOULA – Missoula Big Sky’s boys picked up their first win since February of 2017. And the Billings Senior girls raced to a win in a Class AA non-conference doubleheader on Friday night.

The Big Sky boys led the Broncs all night. The Eagles, under new head coach Cory Sova, jumped to a 17-6 lead. Senior stayed within striking distance throughout the second half but never cut the lead within three points. Big Sky’s Andrew Gardanier provided the biggest shot, pushing the lead to eight with a 3-pointer from the corner in the final three minutes. Big Sky survived a late Broncs push to celebrate a long-awaited victory, 57-49.

The Senior girls responded immediately in the second game. The Broncs full court pressure caused problems from the opening tip, and the visitors jumped to a 19-4 lead late in the first quarter. Big Sky settled down in the second quarter and cut the lead back down to single digits. But Senior pulled away in the second half to win, 68-36.

Big Sky will now host Billings Skyview and Senior travels to Missoula Hellgate for more doubleheaders starting with the girls at noon on Saturday.
