Montana teams fall at Far West Presidents Cup

SALT LAKE CITY – Two Montana teams lost semifinal matches at the Far West Presidents Cup soccer tournament in Salt Lake City Saturday morning.

The Billings United Black U18 girls fell in a penalty shootout, 2-1 (6-5 on PKs) to the Sting Timbers of Idaho. The Timbers took a 1-0 lead in the first half, but United’s Brittany Burman tied the game with a goal in the 73rd minute to send the game to penalties. It was the first goal the Timbers had allowed all tournament.

The Blitzz FC Gold U13 boys, meanwhile, fell 5-1 to the Northybay Timbers of Northern California. Cooper Baily scored the lone goal for the Blitzz, who are based out of Bozeman.
