BILLINGS – The best Class B football players battle North-versus-South in another all-star game Friday night. The state champs from the northwest corner of the state hope to bring their winning ways to Billings.
Eureka captured a second consecutive state title in November, storming through the Class B playoffs with dominant victories. Before the back-to-back championships, the Lions had previously only made it to the championship game once, a loss in 1990.
But even with several star seniors graduating from the first title team, the Lions showed they have found the formula for winning football.
“I think we just said, ‘You know what, we did it once. We’re going to do it again,'” said lineman James Williams. “We graduated our entire senior class. We’re going to try to do it again and prove that we can.”
“I guess it would have to be being more confident in what we can do,” added lineman Stetson Miller. “We did condition a lot harder than we usually do. We switched out players a lot more than we did last year, too.”
Eureka’s Brenton Pluid joins Williams and Miller on the North all-stars. They’ll try to take down the South at 7 p.m. Friday night at Rocky Mountain College in Billings.
