MISSOULA – Cory Sova has recently been named the new head coach for the boys basketball team at Big Sky High School. Sova grew up in Wyoming before going to and completing college at MSU Billings.

Throughout his career, Sova has coached varsity basketball, football and track. Sova says basketball, in which he amassed 362 wins in Wyoming, is his true passion.

“I am very excited to join the staff at Missoula Big Sky and proud to be an Eagle,” Sova said. “Through my years of visiting family in Missoula, I have been very impressed with the kindness and hospitality shown by community members. What a great place to raise a family. My wife and I hope to join in the many various community activities that Missoula offers.”

Sova replaces Bryan Ferriter, who coached the Eagles the past six seasons. Under Ferriter’s tutelage, Big Sky advanced to the Class AA state tournament in 2013, 2015 and 2016 but failed to win a game last season.

Big Sky has one Class AA state championship in program history, defeating Helena High in 1997.
