The race for the MontanaSports.com Class B all-sports championship came down to the end once again. For the second consecutive year, Missoula Loyola ended up on top.

Loyola’s Rams and Breakers totaled 47 points, holding off Bigfork at 45.5 and Huntley Project at 42. Loyola also won our first all-sports standings last year.

To settle the title, we gather results from every Montana High School Association-sanctioned sport. We hand out 10 points for a state title, seven points for second place, six points for third, and so on, down to one point for eighth place.

Loyola claimed just a single state championship, a dominant victory in girls golf late in the school year, but the Breakers also finished tied for second in tennis and third in softball, while the Rams took second in golf and tennis and made a run to the semifinals in football.

Bigfork’s second straight girls track and field championship closed the Vikings and Valkyries to their close finish. They also won a boys basketball title in March.

Huntley Project won a volleyball title and took second in softball and boys track and field.

Shelby used high finishes to finish in fourth. The Coyotes won the boys golf title and finished second in football, boys basketball and girls golf.

Eureka and Colstrip tied for fifth place. Each claimed one state championship: the Lions in football and the Colts in wrestling.
