LAUREL – Huntley Project sophomore Emily Poole set a new Class B top javelin mark this year with a 142’2″ throw at the District 4B meet in Laurel Friday, the first time Poole has gone over 140 feet in her young career.

Poole set the mark on the first throw of finals, putting her just three inches behind Bozeman’s Sarah Angwin for the 2018 all-class mark.

Hailey Poole, the three-time state javelin champion who recently completed her freshman year at the University of Minnesota, was on hand to watch her younger sister set her PR. Emily also won the shot put and discus titles Friday.

Joliet star Ry Olson also won three times, sweeping all three jump events including a PR of 21’9.5″ in the long jump. He is ranked second in Class B in all three jumping events so far this season.

The J-Hawks finished second in the team race to Huntley Project, who dominated on the track. The Red Devils won six of the 10 races, including double-winner Austin Hernandez in the 100 and 200 meters. Hernandez ran a PR 11.14 to win the 100.

Huntley Project also won the girls team title behind Poole’s three victories, along with wins from Alana Graves in the 200 and 400 meters. Roundup finished second.
