BILLINGS – The Billings Senior boys and girls tennis teams aced their way past the competition at the Eastern AA divisional tennis tournament.
The Lady Broncs put up 61 total points to win the Eastern AA by 34 points. Billings West was second with 27, while Billings Skyview finished third with 14 points.
Senior’s Gigi Montague claimed the number one singles crown with a 6-3, 6-0 victory over teammate Kristen Kraske on Thursday afternoon.
The doubles team went to work Friday morning in the championship match and the result was another win for the Broncs.
Annie Woods and McKenzie Gilsdorf survived a second set scare and hung on for the straight set (6-1, 7-5) victory.
On the boys side, Senior claimed the title with 54 points. The Skyview Falcons posted a second place finish with 35 and West tallied 11 points for third place.
Bronc’s senior Jay Montague rolled to his third Eastern AA divisional title by posting a 6-1, 6-0 straight set victory over teammate Jesse Dimich-Louvet on Friday afternoon at Pioneer Park.
The Skyview duo of Ben Ebel and Trevor Dillon took home the doubles crown with an exciting 6-4, 7-5 win over Senior’s Bo Henderson and Connor Eaton.
The top 4 boys and girls singles players, plus the top 4 boys and girls double’s teams have all qualified for the state tournament.
The Double A state tennis tournament is next weekend in Kalispell.
