BOZEMAN – The first day of the Southern AA tennis divisional kicked off Thursday at Bozeman High School. The surprise sunny weather on Thursday morning allowed for play outside, however the that won’t be the same for the finals. The championship rounds on Friday morning will be held at Montana State University’s tennis complex on campus due to impending weather conditions.
In the boys doubles, Alex Seaburn and Evan Martin of Helena High made it through the semifinals against Levi Collins and Tal Rogers of Bozeman. But Bozeman still places a team in the final, as Hawks Jackson Pederson and Andrija Martinovic made it to the final and will face Seaburn and Martin for the crown. In boys singles, the championship game is set between Helena Capital’s Alex Hanson and Cory Bowlby of Helena High.
On the girls side, sisters Bridget and Fiona Powers of Helena Capital stormed their way through every contest, not dropping a single set on their way to the championship round. They will take on Annika Likenbach and Laurel Ward of Bozeman in Friday’s title match. In singles, the Hawks continue to dominate on their home court. Heather Sikoski lost only one game in her three matches on Thursday. It’s an all-Bozeman final as she takes on teammate Elle Ziles in the championship.
Friday’s title games will be played at the Montana State tennis center starting at 8 a.m.
