BILLINGS – Wednesday proved to be a great afternoon for high school tennis divisionals in Billings, but Thursday and Friday may be a little wet.
Senior, Skyview and West all opened their Class AA divisional at Pioneer Park, but at the urging of officials players started early trying to gain ground on squeezing in the outdoor matches. Rain is forecasted for Thursday evening and much of Friday in Billings. Instead of limiting Wednesday to the first round only as scheduled, teams cruised through as many matches as possible with a deadline of 7 p.m.
Players may get an early start Thursday, as well. Championship matches are set for Friday.
Billings Senior boys coach Josh Miller said teams do have some indoor courts on standby at the Elks Club in the event of rain.
The State AA tournament is next week in Kalispell. State A tennis will be played in Great Falls.
