MISSOULA – We highlight another nominee for student-athlete of the year at the KPAX Sports Awards Banquet. And if it’s anything like football season, Missoula Big Sky’s Levi Janacaro will find a way to win at the very end.

The star quarterback became the Western AA’s MVP for his incredible play last fall. He carried a 3.4 grade-point average while also competing in basketball and track and field for the Eagles.

Janacaro will play football for the Montana Grizzlies next year, switching positions to fullback. His playing style fits the move, and it also perfectly resembles the role model he looks up to, former Heisman Trophy winner Tim Tebow.

“Just because he’s a great guy,” said Janacaro. “He played for the Broncos. They’re my favorite team. A lot of people they kind of said we play alike. He’s a more physical guy. He’s not as good at throwing; runs hard, though. I tried to model my game through him. He’s a Christian guy. He’s all-around perfect in my eyes.”

We’ll honor Janacaro and the rest of our nominees and winners at the KPAX Sports Awards Banquet next Tuesday night. Dinner starts at 6 p.m. in the Hilton Garden Inn.

If you would like tickets, swing by the KPAX station during normal business hours, at 1049 West Central Avenue in Missoula.
