MISSOULA – Continuing our look at the nominees for student-athlete of the year at the KPAX Sports Awards Banquet, we now highlight a multi-sport star at Missoula Sentinel.

Kylie Frohlich had four years of success in every season for the Spartans. The future Montana Lady Grizzlies’ forward picked basketball for college, but she admitted it was a tough choice. Frohlich also could have had plenty of suitors for her play on the volleyball court, and she won a state javelin title as a sophomore. Oh, and she dominated the classroom too, with a 4.0 grade-point average.

Frohlich credits two of her coaches as role models, Erin Keffeler in volleyball and Karen Deden in basketball, but she gives the most thanks to another important lady.

“Another role model would definitely be my mom,” said Frohlich. “Because since I was little she dedicated so much time driving us to practice, working around her work schedule, figuring things out so that we can play sports, especially three sports going all of the time. She was definitely a big inspiration for me there.”

We will honor Frohlich and the rest of our nominees and winners at the KPAX Sports Awards Banquet next Tuesday night. Dinner starts at 6 p.m. in the Hilton Garden Inn.

If you want tickets, you can pick them up at the KPAX station during normal business hours, at 1049 West Central Avenue in Missoula.
