GLASGOW — Westby-Grenora’s Kinley Peterson continued her sensational senior campaign on Tuesday, running Montana’s fastest time in the 400-meter race at the North/East Top 10 track and field meet.

Peterson, one of five girls to win multiple events at the prestigious meet, crossed the finish line of the 400 with a blazing time of 58.82 seconds. That’s the fastest time in the event this season, as Peterson is the first girl to break the 59-second barrier. Peterson also won the 800 on Tuesday, finishing in 2 minutes, 23.58 seconds.

Glasgow’s Bailey Chappell (100- and 200-meter dashes), Harlem’s L’Tia Lawrence (1,600- and 3,200-meter runs), Baker’s Wrenzi Wrzesinski (100- and 300-meter hurdles) and Nashua’s Taylor Laumeyer (shot put and discus) also won multiple events. Chappell posted a personal-record time of 26.97 seconds in the 200, while Laumeyer PR’ed in the discus with a mark of 121 feet, 9 inches.

Sidney’s Hughes brothers continued their record-setting seasons on the boys side with senior Garrison Hughes breaking his own meet record in the pole vault with a height of 16 feet, 5 inches and junior Carter Hughes setting the meet records in both the shot put and discus. Carter Hughes marked a personal-best throw of 58 feet, 6 inches in the shot and then launched the disc 167-06.

Outside of Carter Hughes, Scobey’s Riley Linder was the only other multi-event winner on the boys side. Linder swept the hurdles, setting a PR of 16.01 seconds in the 110 hurdles.
