BELGRADE – The Belgrade Panthers have stormed through the middle of April. After the slow start to the season, the Panthers have found the crack of their bats, scoring 48 runs over the past three games, recently shutting out Helena High 17-0 Monday night.

And when this lineup gets going, Belgrade head coach Mike Neubauer knows his team is arguably the best lineup in the state.

“I look at every line up I make this year and I just go, ‘Wow! Who would want to face that?,” said Neubauer. “They can all lay it done any time we ask them too, but it is a pretty powerful lineup.”

The snap happened after the Panthers 3-0 loss to Butte over a week ago and Nuebauer stoked the fire, waiting for it to light.

“They just get tired of listening to me I think. It’s just been strikeout looking, KO, KO, KO. All I do is harp on it constantly and I think they just got tired of hearing it and started swinging the bats,” laughed Neubauer.

Maybe Neubauer helped start the fire, but the girls on the team look to one another to help provide the sparks the team needs.

“Our dugout has to be loud and positive and it just gets us going,” said senior Hannah Gier. “It’s really exciting when we have our dugout behind us. Everyone is supporting each other and we pick each other up, it’s really great.”

The Panthers will look to carry their momentum into Thursday’s matchup against Butte Central, a team they beat 15-2 this past Saturday
