GREAT FALLS – What a Saturday night we have in store in Montana. Six state basketball titles on the line, and Hardin is the only team with a chance to sweep.
The Bulldog boys of course won theirs last weekend, and the girls are back in tonight’s State A championship for the second straight year.
Columbia Falls beat Hardin in last year’s title game – the Bulldogs already got revenge on them in Thursday’s opening round. Saturday, they’ll have another shot at Havre, who beat Hardin in the Eastern A divisional championship game two weeks ago. Hardin head coach Cindy Farmer likes her team’s chances.
“They just never, never say die,” said Farmer of her team’s resolve. “It’s pedal to the medal all the time. Defensively, it’s great all the time. Offensively, sometimes I wish we’d slow it down a little bit, but you know what, that’s who we are.
“They’ve worked over a year for this, from summer until now, and you can’t let it get away now.”
The last Class A team to sweep both the boys and girls basketball state titles in the same season was Miles City in 1988.
Hardin and Havre tip off at 8:00 p.m. at the Montana ExpoPark in Great Falls.
