LAUREL — Madison Wasson scored 17 points and grabbed seven rebounds to help the Harlowton girls basketball team to a 41-25 win over Bridger in a Southern C challenge game on Monday.

Bridger earned a challenge game after winning the consolation final at the Southern C divisional tournament on Saturday in Miles City, while Harlowton fell to Ekalaka in the championship game.

The Engineers jumped out to a quick lead on Monday, building an 18-4 advantage after the first quarter in a wire-to-wire win. Bridger would battle back in the second to close the deficit to 20-14 at the break, but Harlowton was too much in the second half. The Engineers grew the lead to 19 points early in the fourth before settling for the 16-point win.

Mariah Dietrich added 11 points for Harlowton, which will face Froid-Lake in the first round of the Class C state tournament in Butte. The tournament starts Thursday with the Redhawks and Engineers starting things off at 12:30 p.m.

Jessica Adkins scored 19 points to lead Bridger.
