LAUREL – A pregame technical foul gave Park City a 2-0 lead before the Southern C championship game even started Saturday night. Bridger likely wishes it never would have.

Park City jumped out to a 27-8 halftime lead on their way to a runaway win over the Scouts, 61-39, to claim the South’s No. 1 seed in the upcoming State C boys tournament.

The Panthers led 9-2 after the first quarter, and increased that to double-digits with three consecutive three-pointers in the second quarter. Bridger made just one field goal before halftime (1-17 FG).

Rylan Gauthier scored a game-high 25 points, including going 13-14 from the free throw line. Talon Johnstone tallied a double-double with 12 points and 11 rebounds.

Bridger was given a technical foul in warmups for dunking in front of the officials, and Gauthier made both free throws for a 2-0 lead.

Melstone beat Plenty Coups, 71-41, in Saturday night’s consolation game, meaning there will be a challenge game between Melstone and Bridger Monday night to determine the South’s No. 2 seed at State. Tipoff is at 7:00 p.m.
