BILLINGS – Saturday night had to feel good for the Havre Blue Ponies.
One year after falling to Hardin in the divisional title game, Havre kept their perfect season alive with a 42-34 win over the Bulldogs in the Eastern A championship at Rimrock Auto Arena.
Kyndall Keller scored 13 of the Blue Ponies’ first 15 points, as Havre jumped out to a 15-5 lead early in the second quarter. Hardin would get within two, but Havre pushed the lead back 21-14 by halftime.
Hardin trimmed the deficit to 24-20 near the end of the sloppy third quarter, but five straight Havre free throws to end the quarter put the Blue Ponies back up nine and in control.
The win moves No. 1 Havre to 21-0 on the season. They’ll be the East’s No. 1 seed at the State A girls tournament in Great Falls from March 8-10. Hardin will be the No. 2 seed, Belgrade the No. 3, and Glendive the No. 4.
