GREAT FALLS – Tied atop the Eastern AA standings, the Billings Senior (15-2, 10-1) and Billings West (15-2, 10-1) girls couldn’t afford a letdown against Great Falls High (3-14, 2-9) and Great Falls CMR (9-8, 7-4).
That’s almost what each team got.
The Broncs held on for dear life against the Bison, escaping with a 43-42 win that came down to the final possession. Great Falls High trailed by 43-40 with seconds left but managed a layup instead of a game tying three.
Across town, CMR and West were tied late into the fourth quarter with each team trading possessions. A putback from Allie Olsen had the Rustlers trailing by one point with 1:15 left in the game. But free throws down the stretch lifted the Bears to a 43-37 win.
The teams will switch opponents Saturday afternoon with a tip off time scheduled for 2:30 p.m.
