ARLEE — Few high school basketball coaches showcase the combination of enthusiasm, energy and passion quite like Arlee coach Zanen Pitts.
The former Ronan basketball and track and field star has guided the Warriors’ program to the last two Class C state championship games, winning the title last March in Bozeman. An emotional Pitts stated at the time that “the win was for all of Indian Country.”
This postseason, Pitts and the Warriors are prepared to defend their title, entering the Western C divisional tournament as the No. 1 team in the MontanaSports.com power polls.
MTN Sports recently spent an extended period of time with the Warriors, following the program through pre-game shoot-around, the entirety of a conference game, the following morning’s 6 a.m. workout and more. Pitts wore a microphone during Arlee’s win over District 14C rival Plains on Jan. 25, allowing MTN Sports access to the sights and sounds of what it takes to build a championship contender.
