CONRAD – On Saturday, the Choteau and Fairfield boys basketball teams met in the District 1B consolation game in Conrad. The game was tied at 57 with three seconds left. Enter Keeley Bake.
The sophomore for the Eagles heaved up a half-court prayer as time ran out, and it was answered. Fairfield won the contest 60-57, and Bake finished the game with 26 points.
“Coach (Jordan Ratliff) drew up a good play. We were supposed to have a person streaking down the backside, but then I just ended up shooting it,” said Bake. “My heart dropped and I was like, ‘Wow, that really actually happened.’ You just have to move onto the next play, you can’t live on it like it’s going to happen again. You don’t really want it to happen again; you’d rather win a game by 10 points, so you’ve got to get better.”
Fairfield will head to divisionals this weekend in Glasgow.
