HAMILTON — Hunter Omlid and Carter Kearns combined to score 43 points to help Hamilton’s boys basketball team keep its undefeated record intact with a 61-57 win over Butte Central in the Southwestern A district championship on Saturday.

The Broncs, the last unbeaten team remaining in Class A, need a fourth-quarter rally to stay perfect. Trailing 44-39 entering the fourth quarter, Hamilton outscored the Marrons 22-13 over the final eight minutes. Omlid scored 12 points in the fourth quarter and Kearns added six. The duo combined to hit all eight of their free throw attempts in the final frame.

Butte Central built its lead on the strength of a hot third quarter. The Maroon scored 20 points in the third, getting seven points from Dylan Sestrich and five from Luke Heaphy in the period. Heaphy led Butte Central with 15 points on the night. Jared Simkins added 12, and Sestrich and Cade Holter each contributed 10.

Omlid finished with a game-high 23 points, making nine of 10 free throw attempts. Kearns scored 20 points, tand Tanner Goligoski added seven, all in the first quarter.

Both teams advance to next week’s Western A divisional tournament at Butte. The Broncs open up with Libby and Butte Central faces Browning in the first round.
