Whitehall, Manhattan shine at District 5B tournament

BELGRADE – The Whitehall Trojans and Manhattan Tigers came out victorius on the first day of the District 5B tournaments at the Belgrade High School Events Center on Thursday.

The fourth-seeded Tigers came away with a 58-50 win over Jefferson. The Panthers had a 40-35 lead heading into the final quarter, but Manhattan’s Garrett Duncan hit back-to-back 3-pointers to put the Tigers up by one heading into the final minutes. The Tigers will now face top-seeded Three Forks in the semifinal Friday at 3 p.m.

As for the Trojans, they advanced to the semifinals with a 56-44 win over Townsend. They added another member to the 30-point club on Thursday night, as Max Feight dropped 31 points against the Bulldogs. It’s the sixth time this season he has scored 30 or more points in a game. Whitehall will square off against No. 2 Big Timber Friday at 4:30 p.m.
