CHURCHILL – Manhattan Christian sent its senior basketball players off in style on Saturday night.
Alex Veltkamp had a monster double-double to lead the Manhattan Christian Eagles girls basketball team past Whitehall, 57-23. Veltkamp had 29 points and 11 rebounds in her final home game, including 23 points and 10 rebounds in the second half alone.
The Manhattan Christian boys didn’t start as fast as the girls. Max Feight kept the Trojans within one entering halftime, but the Eagles outscored Whitehall 22-5 in the third quarter to take a commanding lead. Manhattan Christian went on to win, 69-43.
Ryan Busch and Caleb Bellach paced the Eagles with 16 points apiece. Feight led Whitehall with 22.
Both Manhattan Christian’s boys and girls will enter the District 11C tournament as No. 1 seeds after finishing unbeaten in conference play. The boys clinched with a 90-76 win in Gardiner on Friday led by Bellach’s 31-point outburst.
