Kalispell Flathead sweeps thrilling rivalry doubleheader versus Kalispell Glacier

KALISPELL – A pair of tight crosstown rivalry games both went to the home team in Kalispell on Thursday night. The Flathead boys and girls both fought off Glacier for Western AA conference wins.

The Bravette girls started the night by holding on in a low-scoring contest, 29-25 over the Wolfpack. Clara Vandenbosch led all scorers with 13 points. Flathead built a 6-1 lead after the first quarter and hung on throughout, although never leading by much.

The win improves Flathead to 3-3 in Western AA play. Glacier falls to 2-3.

Flathead then made it a sweep in an even closer boys showdown. The Braves defeated the Wolfpack 59-55 in overtime.

After a back-and-forth first half, Flathead started building a lead in the third quarter. The Braves led 46-37 heading into the fourth, but Glacier came back to tie the game at 51 and send it to overtime. Flathead out-scored the Wolfpack 8-4 in the extra period.

Tyler Johnson scored 19 points to lead the Braves. Sam Elliott added 16. Brec Rademacher paced the Wolfpack with 17 points.

Flathead improves to 4-2 in Western AA play, while Glacier falls to 3-2.
