BUTTE — The Class AA boys basketball season has been unpredictable, to say the least. That notion was proved true once again on Tuesday night, when the the Butte High Bulldogs snapped a nine-game losing streak in a 50-46 win over the second-ranked Bozeman Hawks.

The two rivals fought a close battle through the majority of the first half, but a 13-point run gave the visiting Hawks a 27-19 lead at the half. Through three quarters, they held a 38-30 lead.

Butte owned the fourth, opening the final frame on a 15-2 run to take a 45-40 lead. The two squads traded baskets, but Butte’s clutch free throw shooting put the game out of reach with four seconds to play.

With the win, the Bulldogs grabbed their first win in conference play (1-6). Butte is now 2-10 overall. Bozeman fell to 9-3 overall (4-2 conference).
