MISSOULA – A state championship rematch featuring two of the best teams in the state this year lived up to the hype on Thursday. This time, Missoula Sentinel came out five points better than Helena High.

The Spartans avenged last year’s title loss with a 48-43 victory in Western AA girls basketball action. Jordyn Schweyen led the way with 16 points for Sentinel.

The home team led for most of the second half. Helena cut the lead to two points a couple times in the final minutes, but Sentinel had the answers. Shelby Schweyen hit her big sister Jordyn for a layup to push the lead to four in the final minute. The older Schweyen would also make a free throw and block a 3-point attempt in the closing seconds.

Missoula Sentinel’s boys made it a sweep with a 56-37 win at Helena High.
