Eureka Lions defeat Jefferson Panthers to win Class BC duals

GREAT FALLS — The defending champs were up to their usual tricks on Saturday.

The Eureka Lions, last year’s Class BC wrestling state champions, defeated Jefferson 48-30 on Saturday as Great Falls Central played host to the Class BC wrestling duals.

The Lions won nine of 13 matches in the championship dual, with seven of those wins coming via pin. Hank Dunn took the quick pin of the finale, defeating Jayzic Beaupre in 14 seconds.

Gunnar Smith, Kyle Durden and Nathan Schmidt each won their matches by pin in a combined 3:36. Smith and Schmidt pinned in 20 and 21 seconds, respectively.

Jonathan Schmidt and Garrett Graves won their matches via pin, 1:03 for Schmidt and 0:55 for Graves.

Huntley Project defeated Whitehall 50-22 in the consolation match of the tournament. Townsend, Columbus-Absarokee, Fairfield and Great Falls Central rounded out the top eight teams.
