BILLINGS – Jesse Owens scored 25 points and Billings West pulled away in the fourth quarter to defeat Billings Skyview 69-54 on Friday night at Rimrock Auto Arena.
The Falcons got off to a fast start in the nightcap behind Logan DeHaven. DeHaven scored 10 points in the opening frame and out-scored the Bears by himself 10-8.
The Bears quickly answered behind Owens and took a 23-21 lead into the half.
Skyview played even in the third quarter before West blew the doors off the gym in the fourth. Owens began the quarter with a pull-up 3-pointer and on the next possession he delivered a beautiful no-look bounce pass to Cade Tyson, who finished the layup before hitting the deck.
West won the final quarter by 11 points as Skyview never could answer the Owens run. West is now 4-3 on the season, while Skyview fell to 3-4.
The girls played the early game and it was all Billings West. The Lady Bears hit 11 triples as they cruised to the easy 75-37 win over the Falcons.
Tylee Manuel led all scorers with 21 points, while Ambreya Windy Boy and Shayla Montague added 18 each for the victorious Bears.
Kenzie Ketchum poured in 17 points for Skyview.
Billings West improved to 6-1 overall and 2-0 in conference.
