GREAT FALLS – The first crosstown boys basketball game of the season between Great Falls High and Great Falls CMR kicks off at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday. The Bison have won the past seven meetings, and both teams are off to great starts to the season.

Players on both sides are confident and pumped for the electric atmosphere that awaits.

“I think it’s going to be really cool this year because (Great Falls High) is 6-1 and we’re 5-1, so a lot of people are going to come out for this one,” said CMR senior Jake Olsen. “It’s super loud from tip to finish. It’s going to be a blast.”

“I think we have a bunch of guys, seven or eight guys, who can all contribute and all get double digits every night,” said Great Falls High senior Kendall Kynett. “I just think we’re really balanced. We have a lot of guys who can do a lot of good things.”

“It’s so exciting. There’s more people there than every other game of the year,” said CMR senior Garrison Rothwell. “It’s just a lot of fun. You can hear everybody yelling, and the energy is up.”

“It’d be a big step for us in conference play. We’re trying to get to 2-0 in conference. I think it’d be a big step,” said Great Falls High junior Kyle Torgerson. “We have an off week next week, then the week after that we’ll face tougher teams. If we win this game it’ll help us a lot.”

“We just have to stop their shooters. They like to shoot a lot of 3s, and I think if we get out on (Great Falls High) and make life difficult for them, then we’ll be able to score on offense,” said Olsen.

“(Crosstown games) are really loud, and it’s a really good atmosphere,” said Torgerson. “You can’t hear much, but you’re just out there competing and I think it’s really fun.”

“I think this CMR team is a better team than we’ve had in a couple of years, and I think we should get the win,” said Rothwell.
