BOZEMAN – With just five weeks before the state wrestling tournament, Billings Senior and Colstrip look like contenders for plenty of hardware.

Senior wrestlers won three weight classes, while two Colts also won titles, Saturday in the championship round of the Tom LeProwse Wrestling Invitational in Bozeman.

Alejandro Madrid, Matthew Dewitt, and Charlie Klepps each won titles for the Broncs. Madrid beat Bozeman’s Tayt Rogers 4-2 at 103 pounds. Dewiit also took down a Hawk, pinning Sterling Quinn in the third period of the 120-pound match, while Klepps beat Belgrade’s Jon Muirs 3-1 at 132.

NaKoda Siegel and Jackson Currier brought home titles for Colstrip. Siegel beat Hardin’s Brendan Roan 16-6 at 172 pounds, while Currier needed a takedown in the final two seconds of the 138-pound match to edge past Missoula Sentinel’s Cam Hegel, 5-4.

Colstrip’s Merlin Whitedirt also made it to the championship round, falling 5-3 in overtime to Butte’s Jeff Queer in the heavyweight division.

Billings West wrestler Jace Rhodes won the 152-pound crown with a 13-5 win over Polson’s Parker Adler. Hardin’s Justin Zier (182), Huntley Project’s Blaine Buchanan (205), and Forsyth’s Michael Weber (145) also won championships.
