MILES CITY — Miles City senior Damian Leidholt had quite the junior season, winning the prestigious Cowboy Invitational and following that with a state title.
How can he top it? Well, Leidholt has a chance to cap his career with a second consecutive state championship Saturday afternoon, this time in his home gym.
“It’s pretty special since it’s my last one," Leidholt said of wrestling in the Miles City gym. "I wish the crowds could be a little bigger, but it is what it is with COVID. But I’m glad my last state could be at home.”
Leidholt also has Miles City in the thick of the trophy hunt. The Cowboys took third place last year by just three points, and it’s looking like it will come down to the wire again this weekend. Every point will be critical for Miles City to hoist some hardware.
“It would be amazing, especially since we did it last year. There’s a lot of competition with Frenchtown, Laurel, Lewistown, but that would be pretty cool," said Leidholt.
Leidholt will take on Sidney’s Zander Burnison in the championship round at 145 pounds
