BILLINGS -- The Billings West Golden Bears led wire-to-wire on Senior Night at the Golden Dome on their way to a 35-28 wrestling dual victory over Billings Skyview on Thursday.
The Bears opened with a forfeit win at 113 pounds and went on to win the next four matches for a 26-0 lead. That included a pin by Jesse Aarness at 120, another Skyview forfeit, State AA champion Drake Rhodes with a 14-0 decision and RJ Lodog winning by major decision.
Gentry Lamb and Cameron Savaria drew Skyview to within 26-12 with back-to-back pins at 138 and 145. Paolo Salminen made it three straight Falcon pins with a win at 152.
But Solomon Hernandez put an end to that stretch with his own pin at 170 for the Bears. That built West's lead to 32-18.
Brenner Bushfield took a major decision for Skyview at 205 to draw within 32-25, but Zac Malcolm iced it for West with a winning decision at 285.
Hunter Ketchum closed the dual with a win for the Falcons at 103.
