HELENA -- Four years of hard work paid off Tuesday as McKinlee Mihelish signed her letter of intent to join the University of Montana's track and field sqaud in the spring of 2021.
In front of friends, family and coaches, Mihelish made it clear that she would be a Grizzly in a house of Montana State Bobcats.
"I really wanted to do track in college and they are giving me the opportunity, so I'm really grateful for that," said Mihelish, a Helena Capital High product. "They also have the career path I'm trying to go for. I don't know if I want to do physical therapy or nursing yet, but they have both of those options there."
Mihelish was a seventh-place finisher in the 400-meter race at the 2019 Class AA state track and field meet and wrapped up her club career with the Helena Novas by placing first in the 200- and 400-meter races at the USA Track and Field Montana Association Junior Olympic Championships.
