BOZEMAN -- After a third-place finish at the 2018 Class A state volleyball tournament, the Corvallis Blue Devils moved up the rung in 2019.
And they took down the two-time reigning champion to do so.
Corvallis swept Billings Central 25-18, 25-21, 25-22 in the championship match Saturday at Brick Breeden Fieldhouse, one day after earning a five-set win over the Rams in the undefeated semifinal.
Madeline Gilder led the Blue Devils with 10 kills and eight digs, while Isabel Evans recorded seven kills and five blocks. Hannah Martin had 20 assists in the win.
Olivia Moten-Schell had 10 kills and nine digs for Central, which also got 20 assists and nine digs from Maria Stewart.
Earlier Saturday, Billings Central swept Glendive 25-20, 25-19, 25-19 in the third-place match. Moten-Schell had 17 kills, 16 digs and four aces in the win, while Stewart added 31 assists and 11 digs.
Glendive got 13 kills and two blocks from Meadow Torres and eight kills, 14 asissts and six blocks from Karsen Murphy. The Red Devils claimed the third-place trophy.
