LAUREL — The Bridger Scouts outlasted Roy-Winifred for the second day in a row Saturday to claim the Southern C divisional volleyball title and the South's No. 1 seed at next week's State C tournament.
Bridger won a back-and-forth opening set 27-25 before the Outlaws responded with a 25-21 win in Game 2. But after having to play in the third-place match earlier Saturday, Roy-Winifred couldn't match Bridger's energy in Game 3 as the Scouts took control with a 25-14 win.
The Outlaws fought hard in the fourth, but Bridger clinched the title 25-23.
Bridger's Emily Adkins led all players with 32 kills in the match, while Dyauni Boyce led a balanced Roy-Winifred attack with 15.
Roy-Winifred will also head to state after beating Roberts 3-0 in the third-place match. Boyce had 14 kills to lead the Outlaws in that match, while Roberts' McKinzie Pitts led all players with 19.
