MISSOULA — All three Missoula schools, Sentinel, Hellgate and Big Sky were home on Thursday night hosting volleyball games.
Missoula Sentinel defeated Kalispell Flathead on Thursday night for a Western AA conference volleyball win. The Spartans won in four sets, 25-21, 22-25, 25-17, 25-18. With the win, Sentinel improved to 6-7 overall and 6-3 in the Western AA while Flathead fell to 7-8 overall and 3-6 in conference.
Despite trailing early, Great Falls High rolled to a sweep over Missoula Big Sky, 25-23, 27-25, 25-21, at Big Sky’s gym. Great Falls trailed by six, 13-7, but a powerful spike from Kaitlyn Gilbert effectively kick-started a Bison comeback in the first set. From there, the Bison took control and won the match.
In the final match, it was the Helena Capital Bruins facing the Missoula Hellgate Knights. The Bruins continued their streak at the top of the Western AA standings as they moved to 14-0 with a 3-0 sweep. The Knights continued their struggles as they moved to 1-11.
