CHURCHILL — It was championship volleyball at Manhattan Christian Saturday night as two Distrcit 12C teams were vying for the Western C divisional championship as the Manhattan Christian Eagles took on Lone Peak.
Up 23-9 in the first set, Kiersten Van Kirk, who finished with a team-high 12 kills, put the Eagles up 15 with a spike. The Eagles took the first set 25-9, and that set the tone for a dominant sweep by Manhattan Christian.
In the second set, the Eagles continued to dominate the Big Horns. Freshman Katelyn Van Kirk crushed a set for a Kill, and Manhattan Christian won the second set 25-5. Katelyn Van Kirk had nine kills for the Eagles.
For the third set, the Eagles got the sweep as Hailey Van Dyken was set up for the kill, and she gently pushed it over in the soft spot of the Big Horns defense to give her team a 25-11 win and the sweep.
Manhattan Christian is the Western C champion and is moving on to the Class C state tournament in Malta next week.
