GREAT FALLS -- The Great Falls High volleyball games scheduled for Sept. 19 and 26 have been canceled after a positive COVID-19 case associated with the school was identified, Great Falls Public Schools superintendent Tom Moore announced Friday.

The positive case was identified by GFPS administration, nursing staff and Cascade County Health Department officials, according to the announcement. The Bison started their season just last week with matches against Belgrade and Billings Senior, sweeping the Panthers and losing in five sets to the Broncs. They'll now be sidelined for the next two weeks, canceling scheduled matches against Bozeman Gallatin and Bozeman High on Sept. 19 and Billings Skyview and Billings West on Sept. 26. The GFPS announcement added that "all volleyball practices will be canceled as well."

"The state requirements for contact tracing, isolation and quarantining of students and staff involved will be followed," the announcement continued. "In addition, the necessary sanitation and cleaning of the appropriate facilities and equipment will be occurring over the weekend."

Class AA administrators canceled the non-conference portion of the football and volleyball schedules because of the coronavirus pandemic, opting to start those seasons in mid-September as opposed to the scheduled starts in August.

Great Falls High's next scheduled match is now Sept. 29 against crosstown rival Great Falls CMR.
