Helena Capital senior setter Audrey Hofer was named to the 2020 American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Under Armour Girls High School All-America Teams, the organization announced on Wednesday.

Hofer, a Montana State commit, has been an integral part of Helena Capital's record-setting win streak and has helped the Bruins to the Class AA state title game, which will be played against Great Falls CMR on Saturday. Helena Capital is looking for its third consecutive State AA title.

"It's incredible. At first, when I found out, I didn't even know what it was. I was just like, 'Oh, that's cool.' Then I talked to one of my coaches at (Montana State University) and he was like, 'Audrey, do you know what this is?' And I was like, 'No, I'm going to be honest, I don't.' And he kind of laughed at me because it's a big thing. And I didn't know what it was," admitted Hofer, who signed with the Montana State volleyball program on Wednesday. "But now that I've looked into it a little bit more, I couldn't be more honored. It feels so amazing, and I'm just so proud to be named as one of (the all-Americans)."

"I did the nomination for (Hofer, Dani Bartsch and Paige Bartsch), and all three made the regional team, which is such an honor," said Capital head coach Rebecca Cleveland. "Then I got a call on my cell phone from Arkansas on Monday, and I wasn't going to answer it because I was like, 'OK, this is just a telemarketer, whatever.' But then I answered it and it was one of the reps from AVCA that said Audrey had received that honor for first-team all-American.

"To sit on that and to not say anything until Wednesday; I was able to get the OK to share it with Audrey, so I did that and she did a good job of keeping the secret, but it's just an honor and for her to be recognized at that level is well deserved."

The last time stats were compiled, Hofer was second in Class AA in assists per set and was in the top 15 in attack percentage.

Hofer, who won the 2018 Gatorade player of the year as a sophomore, was the only Montana volleyball player recognized on the Under Armour all-American teams. Teammate Paige Bartsch was the 2019 Gatorade player of the year.
